As you know, Fundacion Amistad has been working with the Children’s Cancer Caring Center, a 501 c(3) not-for-profit corporation located at the Baptist Hospital, to treat our dear Pablo Enrique. Pablo is out of the hospital now and has finished his twelve weeks of treatment at the center where he was receiving analysis and monitoring. Pablo’s dad has now scheduled for Pablo to see the doctor in order to see the results of his reevaluation. It has been a privilege to experience Pablo’s journey.
It is with tremendous joy that we share that Pablo was able to attend a summer camp sponsored by the Children’s Cancer Caring Center. He was very excited to be attending sleep away camp for the first time in his life, seeing that he had never spent the night without his mother. We hear that he was truly a great participant. During his stay, he was able to attend parks, such as Disney. Pablo brought his guitar and was awarded the Carlos Santana award, shown above in the picture where he is with the director of the camp. The auditorium roared with excitement after his performance. The time he spent at the summer camp was invaluable for him and his mother. We all feel that Pablo has advanced a lot as a young man in the past few weeks.
It has been a pleasure to work with this wonderful family and to continue to work towards helping save Pablo’s life. A few weeks ago, we worked with his mother, Laura, and others to help the family find housing. Fundacion Amistad also assisted the family with daily transportation to and from the hospital for treatment and analysis. Now, we are excited that Pablo will be receiving lessons from a teacher twice a week and that he will not have to be held back from school as he was last year in Cuba. He’s elated about the classes and was excitedly asking us for history books, which Celene, our program coordinator, will bring to him next week.
It has been wonderful to share this effort in collaboration with my friends Consuelo Isaacson, of ”Friends of Caritas Cubana”, Rafael Miyar, and Celene Almagro from our organization in order to make this miracle happen. Any help that you can provide, in the form of a donation, will help us reach our goal and help save Pablo’s life. Thank you for considering this request. We thank deeply those who have donated to the Pablo Fund.
