Teacher Training 2017 and a new La Guarderia
FA’s activities during Summer 2017 included this year’s training workshop for the teachers of La Guarderia – led by teachers at Havana’s International School – and the opening of the newest pre-school – whose renovation and operations are funded by FA – in Guanabacoa on the outskirts of Havana. La Guarderia Graduation and Education Conference
In June 2017, Fundacion Amistad contributed its ideas, advocacy, and financial support towards the education of Cuban youth across the spectrum – from pre-school to secondary education to post-graduate studies. Each opportunity was an affirmation of FA’s mission of meaningful exchange between the American and Cuban people. Download a copy here.
An Ideas Symposium for Vedado
In October 2016, Fundacion Amistad led a symposium with Cuban and American architects, planner, preservationists and educators to explore revitalization ideas and opportunities for the Havana neighborhood of Vedado. Fundacion Amistad nominated Vedado to the World Monuments Fund’s 2016/2017 Watch list of the fifty most endangered places around the world. Download a copy here.
Though Summer 2016 is well underway throughout North America, our programs in Cuba are going strong to provide people-to-people connections making key and beneficial impacts for the Cuban people.
