Fundacion Amistad has partnered with the Cathedral of Havana to establish three pre-schools and daycare centers serving the children of disadvantaged families - largely the children of single mothers in Havana. In addition to supporting day-to-day operations, a key part of the program is providing training for the 40 teachers in innovative, new learning methodologies to help spur whole child development.
The training is by a volunteer team of leading American educators. Past workshops have included educators from the Ross School and the Montessori Children’s School of Key West. Donations to the teacher training workshop will bring these volunteers to Havana along with books, art supplies, and other educational materials to directly benefit Cuban children.
