Summer Teacher Academy
In the summer of 2015, Fundación Amistad and The Ross Institute, conscientious of the shared cultural legacy between US and Cuba, organized a Summer Teacher Academy for early childhood educators focusing on early childhood education for the global era, for the 2016-2017 and 2017-2018 school years. This pilot program involved bringing four pre-school teachers from Havana to attend the week-long Early Childhood Education for the Global Era workshop at the Ross School. The teachers returned to Cuba with the goal of working with Catholic Church in Cuba to expand early childhood centers on the island as a means to combat poverty levels. Based on the positive feedback we’ve received from Havana and the Ross faculty, we hope to replicate the program in 2016 with an increased number of participants from Cuba.
